i even hate that game we just have to create our own world with boxes and sticks

Minecraft is a game made of cube blocks.
General idea is to place blocks and remove them.
You can take the game as adventure, design, build etc. But the game has some reality in it for you to feel like the character you're playing.

You start off as a character who borns in wilderness and gather resources to survive and create your own house and adventure in cave to gather underground resources. There are monsters to fight, the toughest ones are dragon and three headed beast but you can choose to fight these bosses or not. What makes the game interesting are monsters that spawn in darkness.

Multi playing is a way to interact with people, usually kids, and play games together, survive or build. You can build anything but will take lots of time. You can fly in creative mode where you're the god of the world and can destroy the world with TNTs or just build your empire etc.

It has alot of genres, it has hell, potions and brewing, jungle temple, village, desert pyramid blah blah, lots of things to explore. Hard to explain in few words.

TBH I played minecraft and had some fun but after mastering the game and fully understanding the game mechanics it kinda gets boring.

Basically minecraft is a game you can buy off the Internet it's made by a company called Mojang
It's a survival game where you can build you own homes and castles etc
You collect items to make tools armour and other stuff. You can mine the ground to find new items and also you can fight monsters and kill pigs and things
And ride horses.

Well, minecraft is a designing game. If you are thinking about buying it, DON'T BUY IT. The only thing I don't like about it is it's all pixelated. BUY THE SIMS 3 instead. It's a million times better.
