Trying to find a good fairly cheap laptop?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm looking into buying a new laptop. I would like it to be fairly cheap ($500 and bellow) I realize they won't be great and I don't need much. Typical student stuff, some anime, and occasionally Minecraft.

I was looking into an ASUS but if their is better or the ASUS is a waste I would love some advice.

I like MSI products

An asus would do those things just fine. They are pretty fine computers for everyday type users. I used to play minecraft on my 2.ghz 1g ddr windows xp comp. If that ran it, i wouldnt worry about a 2013 asus haha just my opinion, but i would be fine with that choice. Just make sure to stay away from hp's. They are nothing but problems, and slow bricks now-a days. Just sayin.

It may be a bit over your budget but I would recommend a Dell Inspiron. I got mine for $600 and it is fast and efficient. I can play games and download fast and everything you're looking for, as you need a fast laptop for student use and Minecraft. Good luck with whatever you choose but I would recommend the Dell Inspiron.

I don't need to transfer, save or check data on the hd, just see if its working

How come your answer-er's are serious

So far in my big search asus and alienware keeps on popping up.

Also, everyone says Mac is better than Windows.

XD my computer sucks! 10GB and a dying battery. I feel you're pain

Just look for a good sale.I'll give you a link to Ben's bargains and check there everyday in till you find a good deal. If you are fast you can sometimes get a good deal at dell outlets Look for the ones that are dell outlet new, they are new laptops that were never used but once shipped and returned they can't be sold for new, but they are and in some cases you can get almost 40% off. So a $800 for less than $500. Just sign up for email updates and jump when they have a discount.

Brand really doesn't matter they are all about the same when it comes to reliability. Most people don't believe that but the fact is the fail rate for new laptops in the first years is about 7% for all brands.

I would recommend this laptop, I bought it and play minecraft at medium settings. Also its only $400 but anime and schoolwork should be good on this laptop since it doesn't need a lot of stuff to run.

But if you want to give it a look here it is:

Look into a Toshiba C855 series. They are under $500 and most either have an Intel i3 or i5 processor
