I'm a weird kinda gamer. I like open world games a lot (GTA, Saints Row, Just Cause, etc) And I usually prefer third person over first person in most games, but first person definitely isn't a deal breaker. I also like adventurous games like Minecraft. And I absolutely HATE FPS games. I've always sucked at them and I've just overall never enjoyed them. The only one I've ever came close to liking was Borderlands 2, but I still sucked at it.
Should I get Skyrim? Would I like it?

My opinion yes I think you should get it.It really a fantastic game and certainly does have a lot of adventure in it.One of the best adventure games I have ever played. And it is a big open world game you can do what you want play how you want explore where you want. Ancient underground ruins, caves, underwater ect. Skyrim is not a hard game (depends on the difficulty you set it on) it's a levelling up game so the higher levels you get the more skills you add and the more dangerous and new types of enemies appear the game adapts to your level. And you can play it in first or third person. I usually play third person while out of combat and switch to first person during combat it's up to. And it has over 200 hours of playing time so it will keep you busy if you enjoy it. You can play the game in third person if you like, though it won't play the same. You can log many hours in it and if is a worthwhile venture. I say yes. It can be played it third person, in fact if you're using shields I'd recommend third person because shields can block your view which you may not like. Also it's more an rpg with some fps elements, but not many as its focused on adventuring and exploration with weapons and sorcery.
As far as its similarities with fps, it mostly is with the first person and the not-so-fluid combat engine, it sure isn't demons souls or assassin's creed with its combat, but if you like adventure, character building, vast environments, or lore, Skyrim would be for you. Yes. One of the best all-time games. You can play it in 3rd or 1st person. Well, skyrim is Open-World (tick)
Can be third person (tick)
Many adventures to be had (tick)
Amazing and beautiful game (tick)
Can be played in in many different ways so it dosen't matter if your a
"Weird gamer" you'll enjoy it.
So yeah get it.
