Minecraft Server shows nothing when i open up the application?

Do you mean when you start the server or when you try to connect to it with a minecraft client? Normally when you start a local minecraft server it should bring up a gui (graphical user interface) unless you use nogui on the command line that starts the server, it which case it would open a command window or text terminal.

Make sure that you have installed a correct Java version. If running 64-bit Windows, you typically have to manually install 64-bit Java (if default Internet Explorer is 32-bit). In Windows 8/8.1 I heard that you need to run minecraft server or client from the desktop (which worked for me for client), not from Metro.

Was it working in the past and don't work now? If yes, then try sometimes later, and if no I mean if it's not working from the start then try by updating your java version.
