Minecraft server for beginners?

I've been playing singleplayer minecraft for a while now and am getting a bit bored with it. Is there a good server out there that i can join. I've never been on one before so not too sure of how to get started.

Click multiplayer, then click "add server" or "direct connect", and type in the IP address

I suggest you join a small server first to get used to the basics, you're welcome to come on my server if you want.

Try Bosscraft, it's got a very friendly community and people can help you out if you need it. It's whitelist only, so you have to join the website (http://bosscraft.enjin.com/home) and then fill out a whitelist application (it's short and simple).
