I just started minecraft today. I have no idea how to play multi-player. I got onto a Minecraft server and they all called me a noob and were mean to me. (I know what a noob is now). Anyway, I want a server that will help me learn how to play. No fighting, and I don't want them to be mean to me.

Keep looking. Don't worry about people like that. Try recording your gameplay, then upload to YouTube so everyone can see how dumb they are.

Try watching some videos of other people playing on servers and learn from them.
Then again, you could stay on single player for a while and learn how to play Minecraft on there, and then transition to multi-player.
It's hard to actually find servers that are nice to newbies nowadays, so… Yeah…
