Beginners help for searching for Gaming PCs?

So, my birthday is coming around, and my dad has somewhat agreed to buying a new Gaming PC for me. It should be able to run games like Minecraft, Garry's Mod, and any other pretty computer-intense games at high FPS.

I'm new to Computer Building, so I don't know what kind of things are required. I would like a detailed list of what I need in a PC, the best websites to help me search, how to put it together, which parts should be the most high-end, etc.

Pre-built PCs are fine, I just prefer parts as it is always a couple hundred bucks cheaper. I have no idea how to put together a PC, so that might be a challenge.

Think beginner's Gaming PC.
Also, at least 2 monitors would be nice. You can recommend some keyboards and mouses, although that's not required.

http://pcpartpicker.com/ One of the best sites to help guide you through the design. It will notify you of estimated wattage use and compatibility.

Budget allowing I'd go with a i5 4690k or i7 4790k CPU wise and either an R9 280, 280X, 290, 290X or GTX 770, 770 Ti, 780, 780 Ti GPU wise.

I use a Roccat Ryos MK Pro Cherry Red keyboard with a Roccat Kone XTD mouse. Both are quite excellent and well worth the price. Although I've also enjoyed Razer products as well such as the Death Adder and the Naga (2010) and Naga Epic (2014).

As a side note: You'll need: Motherboard, CPU, ATX Case, Power supply, Optical Drive, Hard Disk Drive, Operating System, RAM, GPU.
You may want: Solid State Drive (For Quick boot times), Aftermarket CPU cooler, Speakers/Headset.
