How to use multiplayer commands on minecraft?

First off I'm kind of new to pc gaming. Second I can't download craftbukkit. It says it has been taken down. I need to know what to download and how to make it work in a server step by step. Also everything I look up about it is 3+ years old so not very helpful. Please help I've spent 4+ hours trying to work this out.

Minecraft has basic commands already set up so you don't need plugins unless you want advanced commands.

To use commands you need to be Op, you can op yourself by typing op [username] in the server console. Once oped you can ten use commands.
