How to use Commands on a Vanilla server in Minecraft?

I've just started a Vanilla Server on Minecraft it keeps saying everytime I type in a Command "You do bot have permission to do this" I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this.

You need to be opped. To op yourself open the server menu and type "op *your minecraft name here* " no quotes.

there are many ways to do this:
you can type your name in the ops file in the server folder
or you can run the server and type op *yourname* in the server application
