So i made the server etc. But when i check if the port is open/when my friends try to join they can't. What ip do i give them? Also do i have to add them to my firewall?

All I can tell you is that port forwarding is a very complicated process and is best avoided if possible. I was able to get through it only with the help of another IT student. If at all possible you should try to find a friend who knows a good deal with computers and put your heads together. Other than that, good luck!
