How to ping a minecraft server?

I have been trying to set up a minecraft server, but my PortChecker tells me the server is port forwarded correctly but can't ping it. I have tried doing cmd and typing the minecraft ip, that did not worked. Got a new software to help on Youtube, still did not work. I need a step by step of how do this. Thank you in advance.

Added (1). The server does work for just me, but it does not work publicly.

Your router is accepting the ping requests, and is probably ignoring them (a lot do nowadays). You really don't have to be able to ping your MC server to be able to use it.

If it does not work publicly, then either your port is not properly forwarded, or there's a firewall somewhere blocking it. The ability to "ping" it has nothing to do with this.

You don't ping minecraft servers. The server program does not respond to ping requests, and your router won't forward the ping request to the server even if it did. Anyone trying to ping your ip address is going to get your router, and if your router is not configured to return the ping, they won't get a response.
