Bad RAM stick that still works?

I have 2 separate computers, one for my gami g and one for server hosting, recently my server pc was having isssues and my server kept crashing, i run 2-2gb RAM sticks, since the servers were having issues at first i thought it was from heat exauhstion, alright, took the right side case panel off checked it frequently, nice qnd cool in there… No problems, still crashing, ok, maybe its a RAM issue, restarted the pc, nope still crashing, ok, my minecraft server runs 2gb allocated memory, its not in use but its automatically using that to run, close mc server, unturned server no longer crashes. Ok wtf? Has to mean i'm at 2 gb of memory, so one of my ram sticks failed? Ok test both ram sticks, pc boots up when either is in, but runs extremely slow and choppy with one of them, is it possible its a bad stick, yet it still works? Or is there another issue?

If stress testing your ram turns up issues, you have to figure out which chip is causing the problem. You can do this by starting up the computer with one ram module at a time and either re running the tests or just fidgeting around for a while.

it could equally well be a hard drive issue.

Test your RAM with memtest86+ and see if it comes up with any errors. Download the iso, burn it to CD, boot from that, and let it run for some hours or overnight.

Are you running a 32 or 64-bit operating system and what is the maximum memory that unturned uses? I hope you are not trying to assign 2 GB to both games because minecraft needs room for java and you need room for your operating system.

If you do have a 64-bit OS, do you have 64-bit Java? The default browser in Windows is typically 32-bit, so it only installs 32-bit Java. 64-bit Java usually needs to be manually installed: http://www.java.com/...manual.jsp
