Program with labelled grid for drawing up blueprints for minecraft?

I'm trying to build a very large castle, but i want to draw up plans first, each square of the grid equaling one in game square. I'm getting sick of erasing and redrawing my grid on paper and paint is useless. So I'm looking for a program that is like paint where the grid is labeled 1,2,3 ect. Preferably with a bar that shows how many squares you have highlighted ect. I've used a program like this before, but I can't remember what it was called.

and autocad is too complicated.
