On the ps3 version of minecraft, what level can you find the most diamonds? - 1

If it's similar to the xbox and PC version, I think diamonds only spawn below level y=15, or the first 15 blocks above bedrock. I've also heard from other people that it is (or was) below y=12 for the console version.

Either way, my tactic is usually to get down to bedrock (or low as possible) and just mine in a straight tunnel. I've also found a bunch going to around level 10-12 and mining around for caves and caverns.

If I remember correctly, a diamond ore vein (1-8 blocks) will always spawn in each chunk, unless something else like a structure spawns that overrides it.

Layer 16-17 i think 18 is lava

Diamonds appear between levels 1 and 16, or 1 to 16 blocks above the solid level of bedrock on the bottom of the world.

In practice most diamonds are around level 14 or so, and are easiest to find near the deep underground lava pools.
