How to play minecraft on multiplayer ps3?

I don't understand multiplayer on minecraft for the ps3. Whenever i get on there are no games to join. How do i play with other people?

Whew, took some searching but found out. Unlike the PC version, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions do NOT have dedicated servers. This means you have to connect to another player (like you do most console games, anyway), but for Minecraft they also have to be on your friends list. Apparently the PS4 and Xbone versions of the game will have dedicated servers, but those aren't due out for a while.

SO… You can either team up with friends who own the game, or you can go to the link in source, which is the Minecraft - PS3 Version forums (specifically the multiplayer board). It has topics full of PSN names that you can add, and they also contain descriptions of what that player is doing (or trying to do) with their server. So find one that's interesting and give it a whirl.

EDIT: The only thing that sucks here is that if that person goes offline, you can't play on their "server" any more. But it looks like some of these people are dedicated and just leave it running most of the day, anyway.
