On minecraft if you make a big hole and water is flowing out unequally how is this fixed?

Make the hole the same size of your river. Your using currents. To make a current go still where the water doesn't push u, get buckets of water and put it on the end where the water is flowing. Do this until the water turns still. Like once you do put the water where the other water meets up. It should straighten itself out.

You need to make it the width of one block of water then dig out the blocks underneath
