Before you say no and get money for a better GPU, I'm only looking to play games such as minecraft or garrys mod. I'm also able to over clock it with MSI afterburner. I just want to know if there will be a difference between both cards. I know that the GT 610 is 64 bit and GT 640 is 128 bit. It is also better in general, I just want to know if its worth it.
Is upgrading from a GT 610 1gb to a GT 640 1gb worth it?

Trust me 640 is so much more worth it, way it works with vidia cards is simple 610 = 10 very low end
40= low/mid range…60 is mid range and 70 80 90 High end.
The 610 is so **** it should not be called a graphics card…640 is at least a real card that lol… Mine craft will work a treat.

Even though the GT 640 is a definite upgrade to your previous GT 610, both cards are outdated and significantly less powerful than many of the popular ones on the market. I would recommend getting at least a 7750 because it's pretty cheap for its performance level or save up for a significantly stronger graphics card because the GT 640 will become obsolete soon as games become more and more GPU-intensive.

The 640 is a big jump from a 610 however its still not up there for high end gaming. You might want to look at a 650Ti but then you will need a more powerful PSU

Nope. Go with a nvidia gt545. Or a AMD HD5670.
