How to Get to minecraft.jar?

I operate on a Mac (Version 10.6.8) and I want to install resource packs and mods for Minecraft. I've looked up Wikis and tutorials, but for some reason, once I go through all the Finder/Library/Application Support/minecraft business, I can't seem to find anything marked "bin." I've looked through all the other files, and can't find anything called "minecraft.jar" either.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I can get to minecraft.jar?

Sometimes the folder is hidden. On find go to go and hold down alt. It will bring up an option to chose Library. This hidden library folder has folders that are supposed to be hidden. On my mac I can't see minecraft.jar unless I go to library by holding alt in the go tab.
