Before you say go download Modloader or Forge, I downloaded them all. I can't find a mods folder or a bin folder. I have no META-INF folder. I can take care of the rest.
How download/ install a mod in Minecraft?

If your using the normal launcher you want to run the minecraft version of you choice at least once so it can generate the normal stuff. Next download forge installer and install it in your.mincraft folder (should already be selected for you unless you moved it, and i say forge because it already has modloader and most people use forge anyway). Once you install it open your launcher and a new profile should be available now. Should say [MCversion]forge, or just forge, select it and hit play. Once it gets to the main menu, close it and go to your.minecraft folder, or wherever, and the mods folder should be there. Best of luck
