Can I play minecraft for PC with a controller?

I wanted to know if I can play mine craft with a PC controller on a PC without a mod or plugin.

Minecraft alone doesn't support controllers.

You will need a third party program to "map" the gamepad keys so they simulate the keyboard.

I use MotionJoy DS3 tool, which allows you to map playstation controllers to it. But I'm sure there are others out there that will do the same for a PC controller.
