Is Linux better than Windows?

I want to install Linux on my computer but I don't know much about it. There are a lot of questions about it: can I run games like Minecraft, The sims 4, The Sims 3, GTA, counter strike and need for speed? Can I make websites and programs on it? Can I do same things like on Mac and Windows? Which Linux OS do you prefer? Is Linux hard to understand? Is it good for gaming? What is Linux good for and what I can't do on it. For some it is, for some it is not. I've used Windows for years, and now I use Linux. For me, Linux is better because it meets my needs better. Much better than Windows ever did. The people who use Linux say it is better than Windows but the problem I have with Linux is that a lot of programmes that are compatible with Windows are not necessarily compatible with Linux operating systems and so I find myself unable to make the jump. You can forget about gaming on linux, many games do not work or take forever to get ported. Minecraft works VERY well on Linux. I play The Sims 3 on Linux, it works very well. The Sims 4 very well.
