Is it better to make a computer or rent-to-own?

Ok, so I have been payingoff this Dell Isnpiron 20 All-In-One for about 6 weeks now from rent a center. The computer does it what it does though i feel that i want to get more Ram. I wanted to look up getting more ram for it since there's only 4gb in it already, and I wanted to get a 8gb, but i felt like if i did that would i be brealing any rules with Rent a center? At the same moment i looked up the ram for the computer and found out that the computer i have is only worth about 350$ from dell itself if i looked up the right model. THough when i'm renting it its 33$ a week from the beginning of julyall the way to the 2nd of Feburary. It would be about 950$ minus the 50 from a refer i got from my mom. Though I usually don't have no more then 200$ for about 3 days then I spent most of it on random stuff. I like to play alot of games on my computer like MOdded minecraft and GMod and such, though I know i need more Ram for them to go on without lagging aggressivly unlike low end CPU games since Minecraft modded is in 1.10. I need a computer since my own laptop is breaking down physically and i needed an upgrade form the Toshiba Satellite laptop for about 2 years. {TL;DR]

Is it better to stop paying Rent a Center and just build my own computer to play my games for a cheaper price but be forced to pay it all at once? Or should i suck it up ad buy a ram slot for the computer to increase it and pay to own with rent a center? I know a few places, but i don't know, maybe I can upgrade?

Make it

You just buy a computer… Renting and making them doesn't make sense…

You can't make any hardware changes to a Rented computer.
Never heard of such a dumb thing as renting a computer.
You will pay more money in rental fess than a new pc would cost.

For the $400 - $500 you are paying in rental fees for a computer that is only worth $400… Do the math… Geez… For the $900 your gonna spend you can " buy " a really decent set up…

Ask Rent-A-Center to buy out your contract. [Pay immediate sum now to cancel it and keep the toy computer]. You might be surprised at how cheap it is…

btw, do NOT ever again rent to own that sort of stuff. It is almost always vastly over priced because they have so many units that disappear without paying in full. In fact, I'd go so far as to say never rent to own anything ever. Garage/estate sale is far cheaper for furniture, even craig'slist is far cheaper.

Yes, Rent to Own ALWAYS charges much higher prices than what you can purchase it for yourself. It does not matter if it's a computer or couch.

People who use Rent to Own or similar companies are people who can't simply go buy the item. If you can, return the computer and go buy what you want.

There's little help for anyone who'll pay almost $1000 for a $350 computer, then want to dump another $200 for more memory. You'll still have a $350 computer. If you fail to make the payments, you'll lose your computer and all you've put into it.

Learn to identify your WANTS vs your NEEDS. Save up and pay cash for your WANTS; finance your NEEDS if you have to. A computer to play games is something you don't NEED; it's something you WANT. A computer might be something you NEED for school.

Stop paying rent, save up and build or buy your own.

With a rent a center you can trade up any time during your lease period, they will warranty the machine during the time of the lease, you would be wise to work with them to trade up
until the rental is yours you can't change it
