How to stop from minecraft from lagging so much?

If your hardware isn't up to date, there's nothing you can really do that'll give you a significant performance boost.

However, if you have a laptop with both an actual GPU and an integrated card (which is most laptops these days), this may help you:

On your desktop, right click, and select NVIDIA control panel.

From there, go to Manage 3D settings on the left, global settings, and, from the dropdown, select the "High performance NVIDIA processor.

Doing that literally took me from about 30 FPS to 120 haha.

If you download optifine and follow instructions, it will try to overclock minecraft to make it more important, and will bring your framerate up. This will allow minimal lag for your computer performance. If it continues to lag, a better graphics card should fix it.

Is your computer LAGGING (connected to a server, poor connection) or DROPPING FRAMES? (bad framerate, press F3 to check it)

I'm assuming that you are using a Windows operating system with administrator privileges. Also, I'm assuming that you are playing Minecraft 1.7.4/1.7.5 with no mods. If this is not the case, add more info in the details!
