How to not be scared when searching in caves for diamonds in minecraft?

I get so scared. Even though it's on peaceful, I'm scared I will fall into lava and die. How can I stop that fear?

Crouch down with shift and you can't fall off the edge as long as your holding shift. Keep in mind this down slow you down but it will save you many times.
