Got Minecraft for Christmas and I'm told I should be able to set my home base and name it and stuff but I keep getting that my command is not valid when I use the commands /sethome and /sethome home (the later is when I try to name my base). Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with my game?

Setting a home and naming it via console commands is only available with plugins which are featured in large servers.
You can't do it in vanilla (minecraft without mods/plugins)
