So I've found horses in my Minecraft land and wanted to find slimes to make a lead. Since slimes spawn in swamps I had to search for a swamp near me. I was not sure there even is a swamp in my area. However I seen witches many times in my land. Is this any indication of a swamp, since their huts spawn in swamps. In other words, do witches only spawn in witch huts? And in case there isn't a swamp in my area, how far in the ocean will I have to travel before finding another HUGE land mass?
Do I have a swamp in my area in Minecraft?

You can identify a swamp by it's discolored grass, and the short oak trees with hanging vines. That, and the frequent puddles. Witches only spawn in witch huts, but with huts can render in any biome, so long as they're near water. However, they are found mostly in swamps. If you need to kill some slimes, dig out a large underground area, deep in the ground. If you leave it dark, slimes will spawn at bedrock. If you are playing in 1.7.2, the next large land mass should be just outside of the last rendered chunk, as Mojang made oceans smaller and less frequent in the new update. Good Luck!
Ps. You can also find leads by fishing, or pilfering dungeons.
