Abnormal behavour, always induces me to think of infections, So I would be scanning in safe mode with Malware Bytes, if you have a purchased version, get a free update to premium a more aggressive version. But if you only have the free version, scan with that in safe mode, set your browsers not to save history, and tidy up junk files, and defrag your registry. I use System Mechanic to keep my PC's up to speed, System Mechanic Pro also has a Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware built in for XP users, so they can at least get up to date drivers?
