Are gaming computers worth it?

I'm 14 and I've been working and saving up enough money (hopefully) to buy myself a decent computer. I've saved up $1,500 (I'm very proud lol) and I was looking to get my own computer because my dad likes to download everything he sees on the family pc. While not the sole purpose of the computer I want, I would like it to run games like gmod and minecraft smoothly. Should I get a gaming computer? If not, what kind should I get that could run games smoothly? Or should I even get a laptop? I plan to get multiple games for it.

Get a gaming console a x-box 360 or a ps4 they run games smoothly or just build your own with a good processor and graphic card suggest a gtx 760 or a amd r9 270x and the newer haswell processor a asus z87 chipset motherboard

Gaming laptops have AMAZING performance. For example, Nvidia GTX 765M (graphics card) is pretty decent. Yes, you can get yourself a fine gaming laptop, such as Alienware 14 or 17. They are TRULY POWERFUL, but they are heavy and kind of ugly. Although I do recommend a gaming laptop, I think you should save a little more and get yourself Razer Blade ($1799). Razer Blade is thin, stylish, and powerful.
