Minecraft: OS X or Console?

Call me a late bloomer but I'm just now getting into Minecraft and trying to decide whether I want to get it on my mac or Ps4. I've heard that the console version isn't all that grand compared but I've played it on an Xbox One and it's actually pretty fun, even without modding capability and endless maps. Please explain your suggestion.
