Why isn't my minecraft working?

There are many solutions.

φ WINDOWS UPDATE! If you have a NET framework update or anything else, just check for updates and update every option and see if that works.

OR

φ Update Java\ Uninstall all javas & reinstall. Delete the Minecraft launcher and reinstall that aswell.

φ You are not connected to the internet (Not too common, but can happen)

Well what "Jo" said are common problems when minecraft fails to launch, however if your system doesn't have enough ram available at the start of minecraft it will crash, try closing all other programs. I'm not sure by the error message what is actually wrong but every time i crash on startup that is my problem. Hope this helped
