Why can't I download Minecraft Windows 10 edition?

I recently installed Windows 10, and I found out I could get Minecraft Windows 10 edition for free, so I got the code, now it's ready to install.
But whenever I try to install it, it says 'Well, this is embarrassing'. When I click on 'See details' it says that it can't find the app.
I've clicked on retry many times and it keeps saying the same thing.
Now it's downloading 84 mb when the game is only 74 mb.
Can someone please help?

Where did you get that file from? If it was not from minecraft.net (the official site) it may be something bogus. Windows downloads on that site lists a Minecraft.msi file or Minecraft.exe file.

It also lists a "Minecraft for Windows (alternate)" for a different Minecraft.exe that you can try if you have trouble running minecraft with the new Windows download. But you need to have already installed Java for that one to run (preferably 64-bit Java if running 64-bit Windows, which might need to be manually installed if default web browser is still 32-bit). If you do not have Java installed, that might be what it can't find.

Of course to use minecraft in anything other than a demo mode or connect to minecraft servers, you need a Premium login (paid for minecraft at some point).
