I'm looking to buy my kids a game console. So far they have been playing on my old school Nintendo and Game cube as well as some games online. They are boys, 7 and 8. Minecraft is a must and my son would love to play games like Halo, but I would also like some more younger games similar to lego, mario, etc. Also I would love to save money if possible. For example, would it be a mistake to buy an Xbox 360 instead of an Xbox One?
What game console should I buy my kids?
Xbox 360 for sure, for games like halo and Minecraft and even Lego they're available for both. But I've had both and I've never had a problem with Xbox 360, as for the one i had problems from day one so i returned it the same week i got it. It's really the same thing with better graphics, and the price is a lot lower for the 360 so if you're looking to save money just go with the 360.
If you want to play halo then it's the Xbox, the Xbox 360, and the Xbox one. They're the only consoles that have a halo game. Halo is exclusive to the Microsoft consoles.
If you want minecraft then it's the 360, one, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4.
Mario is exclusive to Nintendo so the wii and wii u.
If you want to spend the least amount of money then the wii. You should be able to get it for less than 200. But I wouldn't get it because there's no new games for it and the wii you can play Wii games.
Wii you is about 300 with a game included. Wii u has a lot of kid games. Splatoon is a first person shooter with kiddie elements.
The 360 is about 200.
The Xbox 1 is about 350 at the cheapest.
PS3 is about 220 right now at Best Buy.
Ps4 is 350 after the price drop which is later this week or later this month.
Well when it comes to it you already have the old school systems so those are best for Mario. As for Halo, Lego games, Minecraft, and an assortment of others. Good thing about 360 is it plays it's entire library, but also has a pretty good selection of original XBOX games that it can play as well. As for One it has it's library, some pretty good games, and it can play certain 360 games, but doesn't have a huge list. Personally I'd recommend the 360, with a larger range of games from original XBOX & 360 library to choose from.
