I'm playing Minecraft: XBOX 360 edition and it won't let me play multiplier locally.what do I do?

Locally as in splitscreen? You need an HDMI cable/tv to be able to play multiplayer splitscreen. If you are looking to play minecraft xbox multiplayer not splitscreen you both need to have xbox live.
