Can you get minecraft updates with no xbox live?

Don't you have to have xbox live to even use internet on it? If so, then no.

Not on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the game; you don't need Xbox Live Gold though, the free membership (Xbox Live Free, formerly called Xbox Live Silver) granted to all Xbox Live members is enough for you to get updates for games like that. The Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and computer versions of the game don't require Xbox Live to get the updates either.
