Will someone explain minecraft to me?

I'm thinking about buying it. Is it about survival and finding resources to build whatever? Or much more?

Minecraft is a Lego style adventure game which has massively increased in popularity since it was released two years ago. It now has more than 33 million users worldwide. The video game puts players in a randomly-generated world where they can create their own structures and contraptions out of textured cubes

Minecraft is a game in which there's both singleplayer and multiplayer. There are two (technically three, if you count adventure which is basically limited survival) gamemodes, survival and creative. Survival, as it states in the name, is about building a shelter to thrive and survive in an otherwise stranded world in single player, but it can also be played in multiplayer with friends (which is much more fun). In creative, there's no health, hunger, or gathering resources. Creative is used to make large scale pixelart, buildings, or redstone contraptions. It is also a very customizable game, as it does have a very large modding community, which also has multiplayer servers and can be very enjoyable. It's a game that isn't to everyone's taste, but if you're a creative person, then I would recommend the game. I believe there's a trial version, so you can see if you like the game or not.
