WHY THE HELL IS MY MINECRAFT LAN NOT WORKING?

So i have minecraft 1.7.9 and i Really WANT TO PLAY WITH MY SISTER >:( but LAN is not working she has windows xp and i have windows 8 does this have anything to do with it? Anyway we have tried almost EVERYTHING but nothing works we get:
1: Connection refused.
2: Connection timed out
3. Session failed (try restarting your game)
And we did restart the game but it didn't work, I have turned off windows firewall and i have allowed java and the minecraft launcher through the firewall but it just wouldn't work. Am i typing the ip the wrong way we type it like that: 32.43.76.872:5367

Please Help I'm Really DESPERATE TO PLAY WITH SOMEONE IN LAN please…

Any local LAN IP would likely start with 192.168.x.y
Re-check what IP you are trying to connect to.
That said, usually MC will just broadcast the server on a local LAN, no need for any Ip when selecting multi-player.
