Why does anyone play minecraft and call of duty ghosts?

I don't get it.
I watch someone play minecraft for 5 minutes and start wondering what I'm doing with my life.
My siblings have been playing this for hours and argue over stealing stuff, those sound effects are loud and annoying, the music is just depressing and annoying.

And call of duty ghosts.
Ooops got shot now I'm on the winning team.

I get video games usually are all pointless but these ones don't seem enjoyable at all.
How is it appealing?

Why does anyone do anything? They do it because they want to, and its fun to them.

Games like that are fun because you're putting yourself in an environment different than the one you are currently in. Any Call Of Duty game is mainly based on army and military missions, and not a lot of people want to go across the world and actually die. Therefore playing the game gives you a slight experience of it. Same with Minecraft, we'll never live in a world where you fight the Ender Dragon or make portals to the Nether. It's like dreaming of being that all star soccer player that's in the World Cup.

Cods usually pretty fun but yeah mine craft sucks ****

Minecraft is naturally addictive game, if you don't like it suit yourself but millions are allready playing it across the globe

There are plenty of other games out there besides Call of Duty and Minecraft. E.g Valiant Hearts: The Great War manages to be set during a war without needing pew pew pew or explosions every five minutes. People like different things, not much point in getting into why that much when you can be playing something else instead.
