Apple likes to make money. People who like pretty computers that can't run that many programs buy them.
They're not necessarily meant for gaming. But they CAN game. Everyone likes them because they're for all purposes, have great quality, and are so easy to use. Oh and most of all the style and design of it gets everyone buying em. And why do you capitalize every letter in each word?
They are not expensive. That is what they cost. Any similar computer will cost about the same and often more. Do you think an $800 Sony laptop will be the same as a $2000 Sony laptop? Apple does not operate at the cheap end of the computer market as it would require too high a compromise in quality…

Expensive is relative dude, but compared to All windows alternatives, that are even closely similar specs and build quality, macbooks are several hundred dollars cheaper.
Ex: samsung ativ book 9 plus: intel hd 4400/4gb,128gb ssd = $2000
Macbook pro 13 retina: Intel iris - (70% faster gpu)/4gb/128gb ssd = $1600
asus UX 301: intel iris pro(fater than iris)/4gbb/128gb = $2500
