I'm planning on getting a laptop when I go overseas. I will need it for school work. I'm in year 8. I also want it to be able to run games such as (maybe) skyrim, wizard101, minecraft and steam games. Any recommendations?

Laptop don't have types. They have configurations. If you are concentrating on gaming only then buy a laptop with good graphics card, RAM and Processor. This can cost 500-900 USD I think. If you are targeting school work more while travelling then go for Netbooks.

Actually before buying a laptop one you should think what purpose the laptop will be used. As you want to play games, so you should choose that configuration which have a good AGP card along with minimum 4 GB ram and have a latest processor. Brand can be apple, lenovo, sony.
