I play Minecraft but I want to play more video games. I only have a laptop (Which isn't the best or the worst) but I don't know what other games to play xD
What PC games after Minecraft?
Well, there are lots of options for you, you just have to decide what interests you, and dive in.
Computer games tend to fit into several broad categories…
There are adventure games, there are shooty games, there are sports games, there are RTS games (that stands for "real time strategy"… Games like Starcraft, and comand and conquer), and there are turn-based strategy games. Actually there are lots and lots of categories, and some games fit into more than one category.
If you like Minecraft… Maybe you would enjoy something like Sim City. That game is all about building and managing a city. Sim City 4 is great, but it's at least 10 years old now… And the recent version of Sim City is AWFUL… (long story…) so you might want to consider Cities-Skylines, which is a much better game, if city building appeals to you.
Ask yourself what you want to experience. Are you looking for a fun story? Are you looking for fast-paced action? Do you want something thoughtful and strategic?
Let me list some of my favourite games, and why I like them…
Bioshock - It's sort of an adventure shooty game, but the story is so cool, widely regarded as a classic.
Batman Arkham Asylum - This is definitely one of the best games ever made… More punchy than shooty… Again, the story is excellent, as well as the gameplay.
Civilization 5 - If you like strategy games, this is the ultimate perfect strategy game. You have to get all of the DLC content as well. The original game is rubbish, but with the extra content, it is extremely fun. You start a civilization, and compete with other civilizations, and defeat them either by war or diplomacy or technological advancement. Easy to play and enjoy, difficult to master.
Baldur's Gate. Look… I love Dungeons & Dragons… That was a big thing in my youth… And the Baldur's Gate games are the most perfect computer game version of D & D ever conceived. The game itself is about 16 years old… But it has very recently been updated by new developers, because it is so loved.
Look, my advice is to just jump in. Sign up with GOG and Steam, and try a few things that seem interesting to you. You will soon get a sense of what you like and what you don't like, and you will probably find at least something that entertains you for ages.
Portal 1 and 2 are great games and even my potato can run them.
