I'm currently in my freshman year and I'm in the More band program. I play guitar and some other percussion instruments (piano, mallets, drums, etc), however I don't actually have any taste in music. I usually don't listen to any besides some death grips and minecraft ost. I have another friend who listens to lots of 90's bands and some "rock" bands I suppose. As for the genres i'm interested in, I usually don't mind what it is but classic and rock and roll/metal (polar opposites i know) usually sound good to me. What are some fundamental bands/songs I should start listening to/know in general?

You can go to www.accuradio.com and find all sorts of music. Seeing as you are beginning in band, I'd suggest that you go to www.accujazz.com instead and poke around. Whatever appeals to you is up to you, not me or us.
