What is an indie game/company?

Indie Game Developers are Small Independent groups that mostly focus on one game. They create video games without significant financial support of a video game publisher or other outside source. While large firms can create independent games by this definition, they are usually designed by an individual or a small team of as many as ten people, depending on the complexity of the project. These games may take years to be built from the ground up or can be completed in a matter of days or even hours depending on complexity, participants, and design goal. For example, if you and some of your Friends make a game together and Digitally Distribute it, your game and team will be called Indie. EA, Ubisoft & Activision are companies that publish games, work and many titles and have Subsidiaries.In order to fund the game, Indie developers can rely on starting a crowd-funding campaign, finding a publisher or building community support while in development.Without publisher support, developers generally rely on Internet digital distribution options. Most indie games do not make significant profit.
