Want to buy a game but totally indecicive?

I just got over a hundred dollars in gift money, and while I'm going to save most of it for something practical I want to get a game. I'm looking for a puzzle/strategy/survival type thing, and I like what Minecraft sounds like but I don't know if it's worth the $25 bucks… Is it? Sounds awesome but that's a lot more than any other game I've bought, I normally wait 'til the good ones get old and buy them on discount (Like sonic colors, that one was half off just because I bought it half a year later than everyone else.) but this one's not going to drop in price is it? What would you do, or what games would you suggest?
