Suggestions for picking out an apple laptop?

So, I love apple products. I also love fast computers, and I will also add in that I love it when fast computers are good and process things quickly and nicely without a fuss.

I love good graphics, and let's cut to the chase now. I don't understand all technical terms, but I don't mind if you explain them to me.

I've had a windows Acer Aspire for a few years now, maybe about 3 years now to be exact, and it is starting to act up… Horribly. I just can't stand it anymore, and it is literally breaking down bit by bit. The charger port is loose, the battery won't last more than 40 minutes, it's freezing and taking forever to load things sometimes, and not to mention that the fan is also broken so it heats up rather quickly. I simply avoid using it because it is a pain to use in this situation.

Thankfully, I have the chance to pick an apple laptop of my choice, and although I'm leaning towards a macbook pro, I want some suggestions from people who actually understand what they're talking about. I will be using this for school, normal web browsing and searching, games(The Sims 3, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, etc.), Garageband(yes, I will use this for recording things), and for picture editing and drawing softwares(Art Rage, Autodesk Sketchbook Express, etc.).

I have preference of a decent amount of storage, processing speed, and all those other good things, but I also don't see the need to overdo it. However, I want this laptop to last for a good few years as well.

A MacBook Pro is definitely the way to go, I own one myself and it is a wonderful laptop. It is good for school however if you are sending files to your teachers they will not be able to open it if they are on windows since this is a Mac. Other than that you're fine. Web browsing is great on it and games could be searched up to see if it is compatible with Mac. Hope this helps you on finding a new laptop!

Don't get any apple products. And here is why
1. Apple computers cost about 2 to 4 times as much as the hardware is. So if you get a 1k macbook you are getting about the same hardware specs as a 400-500 USD windows pc
2. Mac os has VERY limited support for games, as in you would be lucky to play any games since the hardware is very low end (see 1.)
3. You are paying for the apple logo and that is basically it. If you like the OS then just install that on a better laptop.
4. When an apple computer gets any virus there's no AV support. This means you will have to take it to an apple store and get it repaired. You would be lucky to leave paying less than 200USD
5. You have access to about 15% of all the software on the market ( the other 85% is windows based software)

if you want power and a good laptop that will last get a windows pc and then learn to take care of the computer. I have had a windows laptop for over 10 years and it is still as fast as the day i got it. Simple maintenance can keep a computer as fast as day one.
