I got a SP Survival world (MINECRAFT)?

I got a Sp survival world (As the title says) and when i get a nether portal, Id like to have it floating in air… Mainly because i'm wanting to be closer to the top Because i'm wanting to make a pigman spawner…

Well this is just kinda stupid… Pigmen very rarely walk into nether portals, you would get more gold nuggets by just going around in the nether and killing them.

Isn't it sort of obvious? If you want a portal high up in the air, then build a portal high up in the air. Every 8 blocks in the overworld (the place where there are trees and animals and grass, in case you have no idea what "overworld" means) translates to 1 block in the nether, so i would suggest going to the nether with just a portal on the ground, building up, making another portal, and going through that one. I believe the high up portal should link with the one on the ground in the overworld if it is within 100 blocks of it. So then, you can go through once again, break the portal in the nether that is in the ground, go back up to the portal up in the air, build whatever pigman grinder/spawner you are planning, and done.
