Worried about possible cause of power outage?

So my friend and i had made a minecraft feed the beast server. Long story short the server would keep crashing, I would end it and try to start it up again. After a few times of doing this the power started to go out all over the neighbor hood. The news online had said that the reason it went out is because there was something wrong with the transition line. Is it possible we caused this?
