I have a 1.7.4 bukkit server that I set up. I port forwarded it. I know my IPv4 address, but that doesn't work. Also, when i use whatismyip, the external ip is something else. I try to give my friends both, but neither of them work. I can connect to this server, but no one else can.
Why won't my minecraft server work?

Try to more describe your problem. I don't understand what is wrong, maybe try to copy your launch console of minecraft server with error message.

The external address is what you need to give to your remote friends. However, if that is not working, then you have something blocking the connection. It could be that you did not actually port forward correctly, or that you have some other security, such as a firewall, blocking it. Windows has a firewall that is enabled by default. You will have to open the firewall settings, and allow Minecraft to go through the firewall (or just disable it completely of course).
