I use the cracked TeamExtreme version. Not that I'm cheap, I just dn know how to pay since I dn have a credit card and live outside USA. Anw, I can't connect to any server without getting an error msg.

You can only connect to Cracked servers, which let anybody join in. Thats the one restriction with cracked Minecraft. Don't worry, i feel the same way for you.
