What happened to my minecraft map?

I know I asked this once before but I left out a few relatively important details and I wanted to push it back to the front.

It all started with this one day:

It just appeared on my SINGLE PLAYER map and wouldn't go away. I couldn't add blocks the the area shown, and when I went into it I would just fall down really slowly, and no light would shine into it either. It was totally dark inside. Every time I would load the map it would take a little longer to load each time and now I'm lucky if 5 chunks of the map loads. It says building terrain for what seems to be forever and eventually opens to nothing and stays at nothing for a few minutes, then only a few chunks start to come up later. This is all that will appear now.

When I disconnect it says shutting down internal server and won't finish and I have to force the minecraft program to stop. Every time I try to open this map now my minecraft program starts experiencing serious issues and I'm very confused at how this could have happened to a single player map. I haven't made any changes to the minecraft program since making that map so there shouldn't be anything causing this.

Your game file is probably corrupted. The black areas are chunk errors in which the game doesn't load the area properly causing those void spaces. It happens pretty often in the game and typically the only way to get rid of them is to relog forcing the game to try and reload the spaces without error. In this case though it sounds like your file may be too heavily corrupted and may need to start a new map.
