Minecraft Failed to login: the authentication are currently down for maintenance error?

Hi guys… So far, minecraft is the funnest game i have on my pc and was always THE best game to lan on multiple pc's. A few days ago I decided to update my minecraft and I received the update 1.8…

Then this one time my and my buddies wanted to LAN it with all the correct software, all of us had 1.8 and the same launcher, but when the try to join my game (offline as usual) it say the following:
connecting to server… ( 1 second)
Logging in… (3 seconds)
Failed to login: the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance

this has never happened before… Please Help…

Added (1). I'm trying to create an offline LAN server and then it says on the pc's that tries to join "Failed to login: the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance".

Seems like there's some sort of authentication process that Mojang have added to the joining process of a Minecraft server, their servers are down therefore you can't join at the moment.

This happens when you are playing on a LAN without internet access. It is a bug with version 1.8. It has nothing to do with the servers being down, so ignore what this dude just wrote because he has no idea what he's babbling on about.
